DC Universe

Sooooo, who’s playing?

My (biased) impressions before hardly looking at it. Here goes:

First, the graphics look cool. And the fact that they get to use actual comic book heroes is kinda neat. And different. City of Heroes obviously couldn’t. Champions Online? Ditto.

Apparently, the level cap is level 30, and it takes about 40 hours to get there. However, they actually have end game content in game at launch. Which, yes, is also cool.

Having said all that, I am having a hard time getting jonesed up about this game. There’s no doubt, I love gettin Racy dressed up in.. well, racy costumes. I also like the idea of being able to fly around and generally being the super hero in a game. I mean, we do these games for fantasy, right?

But.. alas. When City of Heroes came out, I found it a beer and pretzels game that got repetitive and boring by level 20. Champions Online, though I love the studio (Cryptic), it’s already going free-to-play.

And finally, it’s a Sony Online Entertainment game. Grrr.

Why is that an issue? Because time and again, SOE’s screwed me over when it comes to their accounting. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Sony products. I have three PSPs (two are functional), I have a PS3, and a Sony DVD camcorder.

But SOE? Meh.

However, I’m still somewhat tempted, so who knows. If I login, I’ll let you know!
